Each day, a parish depends upon the generosity of its people. As
Christian stewards, we are called to reflect God’s love in our
community. In a world weakened by a lack of love, we make
progress toward “Peace on Earth” by offering loving service to
others. All parishioners, whether young or old, have special
gifts to share with our faith community. Our gifts of prayer,
ministry, and finance help bring Jesus’ healing touch to our world.
The following is a list of Immaculate Conception ministries that
provide an opportunity for you to share your gifts and talents.

Religious Education
is the primary responsibility of the parents to pass on the Catholic
teaching to their children. Children “catch” the importance of
faith through their lived environment and experiences, especially by
the parents’ example. Immaculate Conception Parish offers Parish
Religious Education (PRE) to support and assist the
parents/guardians in sowing the seeds of the Gospel in the hearts
and minds of their children so they may develop a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ. The classes help the students to
know and understand the person, message and mission of Jesus, and
the history and basic
teachings of the
Catholic Church. Families fulfill the responsibly of developing the
child’s sense of belonging to a faith community by worshiping with
the parish family on weekends. The formal preparation for the
celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and
Confirmation are part of the program. It is important to
note that two years of Religious Education are required by
Immaculate Conception Parish before celebrating the Sacraments of
Reconciliation or Eucharist. Continuous religious education in Gr.
3-6 is required to enroll for celebrating the Sacrament of
Confirmation.

about the Catholic Church and for those seeking entrance into the
Church. By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during
their preparation and will receive the Sacraments and at the proper
time become members of the Catholic Church. Weekly sessions usually
begin in the fall and conclude after Easter.

Yearly Elected RAS President
Rosary Altar Society has existed for many years. This name
signifies their priorities. The meetings are held the first Monday
of the months of September, October, November, February, March and
April at 7:00 p.m. December is a Christmas Luncheon, May is the
Mother-Daughter Banquet, and June is a luncheon to welcome new
officers. The meetings begin with the Rosary offered for the parish
and special intentions. We are affiliated with the T.D.C.C.W. in
Toledo and have commissioners who give their reports, including
parish commission coordinator, family concerns, church communities,
Pro-Life Sunshine Girl (sends card to sick and shut-ins), rural
life, community concerns, international concerns, legislative
information, public relations, and friendly visitors. Our special
concern is taking care of the altar and its needs. We purchase
candles, hosts, wine, and other items as needed. We are on call to
the parish to help when needed and are involved in many other
ministries. Additionally, we hold bake sales and other activities
to fund our expenses. All ladies of the parish are members.

The sacristans are eight groups of 4 to 5 members who have
dedicated themselves to the duties of keeping the sacristy, altars
and worship space both clean and in proper order each week. No
equipment or training is needed except for the desire to keep God’s
house clean. We find our ministry very rewarding as it also gives
us private time with Our Lord.

Our mission
statement reads: “We strive for excellence in Catholic education by
creating a Christian environment in which all children are respected
and encouraged to develop in their faith.” Immaculate Conception
School is a Catholic elementary school starting with 3 and 4 years
old preschool, continuing with kindergarten through grade 6.
Dedicated faculty and staff members share with parents the
responsibility and adventure of educating the total child. The
school offers a strong curriculum, challenging but age appropriate,
within a Christian environment. An after-school program provides
child care from 2:45 – 5:30. Information on enrollment procedures
and tuition is available through the school office. Tuition
assistance is offered for those in need.

We believe that ministry to our sick and shut-in makes a
difference as it creates a bond within our total faith community.
Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick and Shut-in share Holy
Communion with those unable to attend our weekend liturgy. We
minister to those who are homebound, hospitalized in Magruder
Hospital, or who are residents in Edgewood Manor Nursing Home. As a
Minister of Holy Communion, training is provided according to
diocesan guidelines. When ministering to the sick, additional
training is provided by the ministry leaders.

through United Way and First Call for Help. The food pantry is in
the rear of the Knights of Columbus building on Perry Street. We
operate every other Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Meetings are
on the last giveaway Saturday of the month.

Vacation Bible
School is a five day program traditionally held in the summer. This
program is filled with morning activities and just plain fun
beginning at 8:45 a.m. and ending around 12:15 p.m. Participants
include children of age 3 to 5th grade. Any 6th
grader and older are welcome to help as volunteers. The adult team
consists of persons who enjoy children and love to teach about our
Lord. On Friday we have a culminating celebration service in church
and end with a picnic lunch for all children and adults,
participants and their families. Volunteers are needed to teach, to
lead activities, to serve snacks, and to help the children with
crafts and decorations. Adults are welcome to help with supervision
or just to join the fun, even if for only a few days or hours. The
cost is a donation, which helps to fund the next year’s program and
has been self-sustaining since its inception.

The St. Joseph, Marblehead and Immaculate Conception, Port
Clinton Vocation Committee is a group of parishioners selected by
the pastors of both parishes and recognized as the spearhead for
vocations in both parishes. There is a great need for the laity to
help increase awareness of and to serve as inviters for vocations.
The committee works in collaboration with the Serra Club, Knights of
Columbus, National and Diocesan Councils of Catholic Women, Offices
of Vocations for Youth and Young Adults, and Catholic and Social
Services. We act in both prayer and action to support men and women
in their pursuit of serving God as priests and vowed religious.

We are a ministry to gather our youth together to share
ideas, stories, learn, help others, grow in our faith, fundraise, as
well as other activities. Our “calendar” is put together using many
resources; school calendars, community calendars, other area youth
ministries events, and our own parish activities. For the most part
we meet twice a month on Sunday evenings. Our calendar includes
activities such as: fundraising events for which the parish gets
involved (Soup & Chili Cook-Off, carwash), Christmas caroling to our
sick and shut-ins, game night, meaningful movie night, guest
speakers, making something for those receiving sacraments, leading
the Stations of the Cross, a retreat or two, a major conference, and
so much more. For the most part our ages are 9th through
12th grade students, but there are some activities when 7th
and 8th graders are invited. All students of this age
group are welcome to join and any adults who would like to get
involved are welcome as well.
