This ministry deals with the health & wellness of the people of the parish in a holistic approach of body, mind & spirit. As a Health Counselor, the Parish Nurse meets parishioners at the church, in their homes, in the hospital or at an extended care facility to discuss health matters and other personal and spiritual concerns and evaluates the need for health care and related services. As a Health Resource Person, the Parish Nurse serves as a referral to other health and social agencies in the community and supplies information to promote healing and wellness. As a Health Educator, the Parish Nurse presents and arranges educational programs dealing with health topics that incorporates the faith dimension of wellness and healing. As a Health Support Facilitator, the Parish Nurse forms and supports discussion groups dealing with topics related to the parishioners’ physical, emotional and spiritual health and coordinates related volunteer programs with the parish.

At Immaculate Conception the Parish Nurse leads a grief support group and does personal grief counseling; oversees the Prayer Partners, a prayer chain for the parish; and oversees the Elizabeth Ministry, a support group for young mothers, and supports individuals in all stages of illness and their families.
