PARISH
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (PRE)
The
future of our Catholic community depends upon on-going religious
education for all parish members, especially our children.
The Church stresses that the parents are the primary
educators and the home (family) being the most important place
in passing on the faith. Parish
Religious Education classes are held in support to those
families whose children attend the public schools.
We are blessed with dedicated volunteer teachers who are
willing to share their talents and gifts with the children.
Please call the Parish Office to register for PRE or
Confirmation classes or contact
Sr. Jane Fisher,
R.S.M.
for
information. There is a fee but no one is turned away.
PRE
(GRADES K - 6)
These
classes are held from September thru April on Sunday morning from
9:00am – 10:15
am (between the morning Masses).
I.C. has a policy that students need to be in Religious
Education classes for two years before celebrating First
Reconciliation or First Communion. For a child to
celebrate First Communion as a second grader, they must attend
the first grade.
Reconciliation is usually celebrate in January and First
Communion the first Sunday of May.
CONFIRMATION
(GRADES 7 - 8)
Youth
must have continuous Religious Education from Grades 1 - 6 to
begin the two year preparation period for Confirmation. These 16
sessions are held on Sunday afternoons or evening along with
service activities and Retreat Days. The
Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the spring for Grade
8.
LITURGY
OF THE WORD
Children
grades Kindergarten through 3rd are invited to participate in
the Liturgy of the Word during the
10:30
Sunday morning Mass. The little ones hear and share the
Words of Jesus at
their level. The children are dismissed before the Readings
at Mass and return at Offertory time. No
signing up is necessary, just participate when present.
