The
sacristans are a very cooperative group of men and women who
have dedicated themselves to the duties of keeping the sacristy,
altar and worship spaces clean and in proper order each week
before the weekend masses. The energy and desire to push a
broom, dust, vacuum and perform other needed works is the call
of the sacristan. We presently number 46 and mostly work
in teams that meet once every other month. One sacristan
maintains Our Lady of the Lake Chapel as needed. Two
sacristans launder and iron the purificators, vestments and
linens. All sacristans have a unique opportunity to pray
silently in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament while working
and offering service to the Lord in His Sanctuary.
If
you could fit this into your schedule and feel a calling, we
welcome new members. You will be provided with written
instructions and a 2 hour training session with an experienced
sacristan. This ministry thrives on the realization that
parishioners will enjoy a clean and lovely worship space because
of their works and services.
